The win at the Wachovia Championship against a very strong field was the first on the PGA TOUR for the young player, convincing many that he was a new star for in golf. Now he has won the AT&T National hosted by Tiger Woods and his future is seen as a very bright one by all the experts in the sport.

The par 70 course at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland welcomed the players on a 4th of July weekend, in a tournament which honors the brave men and women who fought for independence and those who still serve the United States of America today.

The first round saw Steve Marino in an early lead with a fabulous 65 (5-under-par) with 4 guys trailing just one shot behind: Frank Lickliter II, Bob Estes, Jeff Overton and Rod Pampling. Kim was among those who carded a three-under 67 on the first day.

Friday's round had Steve Marino drop from the lead with an even par round of 70, as other players shot low scores to come into contention. Tom Pernice Jr. finished with a 63 after his first round of 68. Steve Stricker and John Merrick, both with +1 rounds on Thursday, managed to rally with rounds of 6-under-par on the second day, to finish above the 36-hole cut line. Among those who didn't qualify for the last two days, were Trevor Immelman and Ryuji Imada; they shot +4 and +6 respectively, while the cut was made at +3.

With the new rule of the PGA TOUR, 83 players made the cut, but just 71 finished, as the other 12 guys only played one more round to establish the final standings.

The lowest rounds on Saturday, a round interrupted by heavy rain and dangerous conditions, were carded by Vaughn Taylor and Hunter Mahan, at 64. Steve Stricker came into the clubhouse with a 66 and was at -9 for the tournament after 54 holes. Tom Pernice Jr. still lead the procedings with a third-round 69 and a total score of -10. Meanwhile Anthony Kim was at -7, tied for sixth place.

Sunday came and Anthony was in his best form of the week, managing to shoot a bogey-free 5-under-par round, to finish at -12 for the tournament. The players who started behind him had awful rounds: Nick O'Hern and Tommy Armour III were the best off, with -1 rounds; Jeff Overton had an even par round; Tim Herron, who was tied with Kim after 54 holes, also carded a 70; Tom Pernice Jr. had a very colored +2 round: 5 birdies, 8 pars, 3 bogeys, 2 double-bogeys. Steve Stricker started his Sunday with 4 pars, but after 2 more holes he was at +2 and he never recovered: 5 bogeys to 2 birdies = +3 for the day.

Anthony Kim certainly caught the eye of many experts this week, with a steady, balanced play, showing he has what it takes and he is thirsty for more. He advances into 5th spot in the FedEx Cup standings (making it an all-american top six) and into 6th in the Ryder Cup standings.
