After winning the U.S. Open in 91 holes over cinderella Rocco Mediate, Tiger Woods announced that he would be out for the remainder of this season to have reconstructive anterior cruciate ligament surgery on his left knee.

This swings the door wide open for the other players to have a shot at the other majors and at the FedEx Cup in the playoffs this summer.

După ce a câştigat U.S. Open-ul după 91 de cupe în faţa lui Rocco Mediate, Tiger Woods a anunţat că va rata restul sezonului pentru a avea o operaţie de reconstrucţie a ligamentului încrucişat anterior al genunchiului stâng.

Acest anunţ oferă oportunitatea celorlaţi jucători de câştigare a turneelor majore rămase (Open-ul Britanic şi Campionatul PGA), cât şi a Cupei FedEx, în playoff-urile din vară.

The USGA announced that the top three players in the world will play in the same group in the first two rounds at the U.S. Open.

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott will take on the course at Torrey Pines at 8:06 PT / 11:06 ET / 18:06 Romanian Time on Thursday morning.

It will definitely be the most watched and followed group on the first two days.

USGA a anunţat că primii trei jucători din lume vor juca în acelaşi grup în primele două runde ale U.S. Open-ului.

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson şi Adam Scott vor înfrunta traseul de la Torrey Pines de la ora 8:06 PT / 11:06 ET / 18:06 ora României, joi dimineaţă.

Acesta va fi cu siguranţă cel mai privit şi urmat grup pe parcursul primelor două zile.

Tiger Woods will miss 4 weeks of the PGA TOUR, but is set to be there at the U.S. Open on June 12th, after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee just after the Masters.

"The upside is that I have been through this process before and know how to handle it. I look forward to working through the rehabilitation process and getting back to action as quickly as I can.'' said Tiger, who will not be able to defend his title at the Wachovia Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.

THE PLAYERS Championship is an event he has never missed since turning pro, but it is probable that he will this year as he is only set to return to action at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio on May 29th.

Tiger Woods va rata 4 săptămâni din PGA TOUR, dar va reveni până la U.S. Open pe 12 iunie, după ce a suferit o o operaţie artroscopică la genunchiul stâng chiar după Masters.

"Partea bună este că am mai trecut prin asta şi ştiu cum ce am de făcut. Aştept cu nerăbdare să trec prin perioada de reabilitare şi să revin cât de repede cu putinţă." a declarat Tiger, neputând astfel nici să-şi apere titlul câştigat anul trecut la Campionatul Wachovia în Charlotte, Carolina de Nord.

Campionatul THE PLAYERS este un eveniment la care Tiger a participat în fiecare an de când a devenit profesionist, dar pe care îl va rata cel mai probabil în acest an, căci data revenirii în tur este 29 mai, la Turneul Memorial în Ohio.
