FedExCup System / Sistemul FedExCup

Introduced last year, the FedExCup points competition wanted to and succeeded in opening a new era in golf.Each FedExCup defines a season by dividing it and structuring it better.

In 2008, the PGA TOUR is divided into 2 parts:

• FedExCup
• PGA TOUR Regular Season (33 weeks/37 events)
• PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup (4 weeks/4 events)
• PGA TOUR Fall Series

The PGA TOUR Regular Season spans from January to August.In these events, players accumulate FedExCup points which will determine their seeding for the playoffs.

Points are awarded based on the types of events:

• Official PGA TOUR events - 25000 p.
• The 4 Majors + THE PLAYERS Champ. - 27500 p.
• World Golf Champ. events - 26250 p.
• Additional events - 12500 p.

The points are distributed in a proportional manner for the top 70 players in each event; for example, in a normal regular season event of 25000 points, these are the points awarded for each position at the end of that particular event:

At the end of the regular season, their points will be reset for the purpose of seeding for the playoffs.Only the top 144 players in the standings can participate in the playoff part of the season. The points after the reset are:

The PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup consist of 4 events spanning from August to September. These events will determine the winner of the FedExCup and the players exempt for the next year (top 30).

• Each of the first 3 Playoff events - 190,001 points
• THE TOUR Championship - 110,000 points
  

As the Playoffs progress the field is cut from 144 players to 120, 70 and 30 players until the last event.

The winner of the FedExCup receives the largest single bonus payout in sports:

10 000 000 USD.

The PGA TOUR Fall Series will comprise of 7 events in order to establish the eligibility for those that are outside of the top 30. (places 31-125)

Introdusă anul trecut, competiţia pe puncte FedExCup a dorit şi a reuşit să deschidă o nouă eră în golf.Fiecare FedExCup defineşte un sezon împărţindu-l şi structurându-l mai bine.

În 2008, PGA TOUR este împărţit în două:

· FedExCup

o Sezonul regular PGA TOUR (33 de săptămâni/37 de competiţii)

Sezonul regular PGA TOUR se întinde din ianuarie până în august.În aceste turnee, jucătorii acumulează puncte în clasamentul FedEx care va determina ordinea pentru playoff-uri.

Punctele sunt acordate în funcţie de tipul competiţiei:

· Turnee oficiale PGA TOUR - 25000 puncte

· Cele 4 turnee majore + THE PLAYERS Championship – 27500 puncte

· Competiţiile Campionatului Mondial de Golf – 26250 puncte

· Competiţii adiţionale – 12500 puncte

Punctele sunt distribuite în mod proporţional între primii 70 de jucători la fiecare turneu;de exemplu, într-un turneu oficial de 25000 de puncte, aceastea sunt acordate pentru fiecare poziţie la finalul turneului astfel:

La finalul sezonului regular, punctajul obţinut de fiecare va fi resetat pentru ordonarea în playoff.Doar primii 144 de jucători din clasamentul FedExCup pot participa în partea de playoff a sezonului.Punctele dupa resetare sunt:

Playoff-urile PGA TOUR pentru FedExCup sunt alcătuite din 4 turnee ce se întind din august până în septembrie. Aceste competiţii vor determina câştigătorul FedExCup şi jucătorii eligibili pentru anul viitor în PGA TOUR (primii 30).

• Fiecare dintre primele 3 turnee de playoff – 190.001 puncte
• THE TOUR Championship - 110.000 puncte
  

Odată cu fiecare turneu de playoff, numărul de jucători participanţi este micşorat de la 144 la primul turneu, la 120, la 70 şi apoi la 30 de jucători la ultimul turneu.

Câştigătorul FedExCup primeşte cea mai mare prima din sport : 10.000.000 USD.

Seria de toamnă PGA TOUR va fi alcătuită din 7 competiţii care vor stabili eligibilitatea pentru sezonul următor a celor aflaţi în afara primilor 30 după playoff-uri. (locurile 31-125 primesc “exemption-ul”)
